A Rose by Any Other Name

My wife and I were reminiscing recently about our first few dates many moons ago. At the time, she had been praying that the Lord would provide her with a husband who loved St. Therese and would send a rose when the right man came along.

St. Therese is known affectionately as the little flower and she had promised to send a shower of roses, or beautiful works and conversions, down upon the earth after her death.

Well, yours truly brought a rose and a pinic lunch to our second date. My wife saw the rose that I excitedly presented to her and had mixed emotions. She had thought that I was sweet and would make a good husband for someone else and wondered why it couldn’t have been a carnation that I presented to her! No such luck.

We have been married for 13 happy years and neither of us would have it any other way. St. Therese had spoken!
